A new positive trend is to light up Instagram feeds everywhere with the “women who support women” or “challenge accepted” craze, inspiring users to post black and white selfies to spread messages of female empowerment, friendship and trust.

Lots of stars like Kerry Washington, Khloe Kardashian, Cindy Crawford, Ayesha Curry, Reese Witherspoon, Eva Longoria, Gabrielle Union, Halle Berry, Jessica Alba and Demi Lovato have jumped on the bandwagon in recent days to promote brotherhood and solidarity , tagging friends to continue the campaign by sharing their own photo.

“The trend continues to rebound with the use of the hashtag on Instagram that doubled in the last day alone,” an Instagram spokeswoman told The New York Times on Monday. “According to the posts, we see that the majority of participants post notes related to strength and support for their communities.”

According to the Times, a similar trend emerged a few years ago, when black-and-white photos with the same #ChallengeAccepted tag were released to promote cancer awareness.

More recently, the Instagram representative said that Brazilian journalist Ana Paula Padrão appears to have started the current “challenge accepted” trend on July 17.
