TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Meteorologist Peyton Sanders says we’ll get some relief from the heat, along with abundant amounts of rain in the coming days.
A cold front will stop over the area today, bringing high temperatures back to the upper 80s to drop below 90 this afternoon.
Isolated or scattered storms will develop this afternoon and into the night along the front with storms that will extend more during the night.
Occasional showers and storms will continue throughout the day Monday. With a cloudy sky, high temperatures will only reach lows until the mid-80s.
The overall threat from severe weather is low for today and tomorrow, although some of the strongest storms can produce short gusty winds and small hail.
Showers and storms will persist on Tuesday morning before we dry in the afternoon.
Total rainfall amounts between today and Tuesday will likely exceed an inch for most areas with locally highest amounts possible with some of the strongest thunderstorms.
