Twitter is shocked by Wendy’s wildly unveiling of yet-to-be-launched McDonald’s spicy chicken nuggets.

While McDonald’s original chicken McNuggets are a favorite menu, Wendy’s is the fast food brand most famous for spicy chicken nuggets. Wendy’s returned its spicy nuggets last year after thousands of fans petitioned the chain for the cult-favorite item.

On Tuesday, McDonald’s announced that it will launch spicy chicken nuggets on September 16. One Twitter user asked Wendy, “What are your feelings?”

The shadow did not end there. When Wendy fans and McDonald’s defenders slipped into the comments, Wendy’s let all the nonsense fly.

Wendy’s Twitter account is famous for its shameless biting insults that are mostly directed at other fast food chains. In February, when Burger King released a potato sandwich inspired by the chipbutty, Wendy tweeted “literally everything would be better on a bun than her meat.”

Fast-food Twitter feeds are often an engine for viral marketing. The last feud between a sedentary and a passionate newcomer was the Popeyes versus Chick-fil-A saga. Chick-fil-A’s passion on Twitter that his bread was the original – and best – actually helped Popeyes’ chicken bread come to mind. Wendy’s nugget sound can have a similar effect, depending on which spicy nuggets fans finally want more of.
