A Fourth of July like no other will conclude with a dazzling display of Macy’s fireworks over New York City after nearly a week of nightly shows.
According to Macy’s, Saturday night’s fireworks will feature a musical score that is “a mix of patriotic and pop anthems celebrating New York City resistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Originally scheduled to be six consecutive nights of fireworks displays, with at least one show in each county, Macy’s said the nightly shows would run sporadically throughout the week and would be visible to New Yorkers on each loan at least once. before the grand finale at the top The Empire State Building and the headline of John Legend.
Before the grand finale, nobody knew exactly where each fireworks show will be. That was by design. Macy’s has said it would not announce the location or hours of its shows in advance, although New Yorkers were informed of a general neighborhood just before show time.
On Monday, fireworks lit up over the East River between 9 and 10 p.m., and the city said on Twitter that those in Long Island City, Roosevelt Island and along the East River in Manhattan could see the exhibit. The city also had a show launched on Coney Island in Brooklyn, visible from the south of that district and on Staten Island.

In addition to Legend, the finale will feature Mayo Clinic surgeon Dr. Elvis and Alicia Keys, who will salute front-line workers.
Young People’s Chorus in New York will also perform virtually “America the Beautiful” and “Lean On Me”.
The finale will be longer and will air on NBC on Saturday night.
