Hampton’s elite party members enjoy concierge coronavirus testing, sometimes up to the amount of $ 500 per test, according to a report in the New York Times.
In an interview with Dr. Asma Rashid described to the Times an environment removed from the more intense scenes of the pandemic.
Rashid emphasizes that for the rich and famous the summer was not much different from any other. The only change, in most cases, was COVID-19 testing.

“We went to these private, private, private events, where they had me sign a ‘nothing you see in this house can leak’ document,” Rashid said. “This is still a party town.”
While New York City built up its tests during the pandemic, other parts of the state were unable. Suffolk County, where the Hamptons are located, does not have a major testing infrastructure.
However, the area – known as a vacation destination for wealthy New Yorkers – has money to save, and residents can spend the summer making sure they are virus-free.

“Every time there is an event, a protest or celebration of the fourth of July, there is a higher demand,” Rashid said. “The way I would describe our growth is exponential,” she continued, explaining how she pushed her staff to keep up with the demand for coronavirus testing over the summer.
Testing can take up to 30 minutes, and Rashid often administers it to guests in their cars. If they test positive, they are reversed.
Rashid is not the only doctor who sees an increase in business; residents seek tests for peace of mind as well as for safety.

Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, NYC’s deputy commissioner of disease control, warns that relying on rapid testing is risky because they are not completely reliable.
“No test is 100 percent,” Rashid told the Times. “A negative test does not assume that someone is not carrying the virus.”
