Water outages reported throughout Atlanta; boil notice issued …

Widespread water outages were reported in Atlanta on Saturday, affecting customers across the city and prompting a boiling water warning from the mayor.

While it is unclear how many clients are affected, authorities have confirmed that a major disruption to the water pipeline on the Georgia Tech campus is likely the cause.

“There was a water cut in a manufacturing building on campus,” Georgia Tech spokeswoman Denise Ward told AJC.com. “They are working on that now and the police department is redirecting traffic.”

In a tweet, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said city officials are aware of the disruption to the water supply and are working to repair it.

“For those who still have service, a boil water notice is in effect,” he said.
