Jennifer Hudson recently starred in the Tom Hooper live-action remake Cats as Grizabella, the cat in charge of singing the film’s iconic ballad ‘Memory’.
Last year also saw the launch of Amazing grace, a concert film filled with revived material in which Aretha Franklin made the main album for two nights at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, in 1972.
The material was relegated to the archives for almost 50 years, as technical problems prevented the entire film from seeing the light of day until producer Alan Elliot restored what had been filmed in the early 2000s.
In a five-star review of the film, NME said, “More than a concert film, Amazing grace it is the latest testimony to Aretha’s eternal talent. “
Respect It will be released in UK theaters on January 22, 2021.
