Word spread Thursday that Washington’s decision to drop the name and logo of their old team would lead them to play this season as the Washington Football Team, but the rebranding did not happen all at once. .
The old logos appeared for a time even after the team’s Twitter account name was changed and neither the league’s website nor those of the team’s opponents in 2020 reflected the change in the team’s name. That has now changed.
Visitors to the NFL website will find the Washington Football Team and its W logo along with the rest of the league. The change has also been made on the websites of the teams that have Washington on their schedule this season.
A few steps remain, including changing the URL for the Washington website, which has changed the appearance of the home page to reflect the changes, to remove the old computer name. ESPN reported Thursday that the team plans to remove all digital and physical references to that old name in the next 50 days.
