The annual release of player ratings for the Madden NFL video game franchise is always interesting. Some players are fairly rated, while others seem underrated or overrated. Some players are really happy with their rankings, others not so much.
When it comes to Washington defensive lineman Matt Ioannidis, there is at least a part of his rating that he will likely be satisfied with for Madden 21: Strength. Ioannidis received a rating of 98 on that attribute, one less than a perfect score for the category.

Entering his fifth season, Ioannidis is only behind Aaron Donald in terms of strength in Madden 21, which is quite a feat when you consider that Donald trains with knives to stay ready. Running back Derrius Guice chimed in on Instagram with a rather bold statement, joking “I am stronger” than Ioannidis in a post comment on the rating.

Ioannidis’s full ranking has yet to be shared, though the leaked rankings rank him as Washington’s second-best player at 86, but the strength ranking bodes well for his overall performance, no matter what.
Putting Madden’s qualification aside, the defensive lineman will be an important part of what is a talented front seven in Washington. Sometimes underestimated, Ioannidis recorded a total of 8.5 career sacks in 2019. With so many talented pass riders and just as many blockers, there is a chance that he may get past that in 2020.

While Ioannidis may be satisfied with this Madden reveal, other Washington players have had mixed reviews. Chase Young was pleased to share that a leaked rating ranked him a total of 80, the highest of any rookie. However, Terry McLaurin’s 82 rating was a little low, and Adrian Peterson received the lowest rating of his career at 78. He rocked him with some humor though.
Ioannidis’s strength is no joke, and it now appears that both virtual and real-life offensive linemen will have a hard time blocking it this season.
