Call of Duty is having one of its regular Warzone and Modern Warfare weekends with double XP for weapons and levels and general XP, but players have noticed a major issue with this week’s season 4 update patch.
Players may discover that they don’t get as much XP as they would normally get from a double XP weekend, that’s because they are actually getting … the amount not increased. While double XP is active, the base XP you get has been cut in half. So instead of a 900 XP action earning 1800 XP, that action now gives 450 XP doubling to … 900 XP, exactly the same.
There’s a hugely voted thread on the reddit Call of Duty forum accusing Infinity Ward of doing this on purpose to force people to buy more levels of battle pass or something, but the likely explanation is technical, not malicious As I can’t see in any way that Infinity Ward would purposely halve all XP for a double XP weekend, making it the same as any other day. That doesn’t make any sense.
This double XP weekend lasts until Tuesday, so there is plenty of time to fix it, but we haven’t heard from Infinity Ward about the issue yet. From what I’ve seen, this seems to apply to all types of XP, including Weapon XP. If it persists I would expect to be compensated with an extended double XP session or something. The problem with these Warzone and Modern Warfare seasons is that they are so short that there really is no time to waste. You need to complete the entire battle pass in about two months, which is no small feat, and these 4-day double XP stretches are pretty essential to that.
I just wanted to write this so that you understood what was happening and why you might not be ranking as fast as you would normally expect. Check back here for an update on the situation, and we’ll see if Infinity Ward issues a fix before the end of this weekend, or if they’ll have to have players fix it at a later date. That is unclear at the moment, but maybe you won’t bother him. too It’s hard until you know what’s going on, as this could theoretically be fixed at any time, and you’re only wasting your effort at 50% efficiency.
