Warren County has received the first shipment of the Covid-19 vaccine for its health care workers.

A statement from Warren County Freeholders did not specifically say how many vaccines were received, but said the county expects another shipment next month.

The county will follow state and federal guidelines to help vaccinate those fighting the virus in the front lines, Carney said. EMS staff and school nurses are expected to be among the first to receive the first-stage vaccine, he said.

The County Health Department plans to notify EMS staff and school nurses directly with information on how to schedule appointments through their squads and schools. Warren County Health Officer Pete Summers said he expects private providers, including pharmacies and hospitals, to join the effort.

It is unclear, however, when the general public may have access to these vaccines.

The government’s advisory committee approved a second COVID-19 vaccine in mid-December, prompting the U.S. The way was paved to add to the vaccination campaign. The Vaccine Pfizer Inc. Due to limited initial supplies, federal and state plans call for a tiered approach that prefers healthcare workers who deal directly with CVAVID-19 patients. As more is produced, the reach of the vaccine will expand to other medical personnel, people in important occupations, the elderly and high-risk health conditions. Eventually, when those crucial demands are met, it will be open to the general public.

“The Covid-11 vaccination will be a top priority for the health department over the next few months and we will put every effort to make the vaccine available to our community as soon as possible,” Summers said.

The Warne County Public Safety Department is working with area agencies to make sure it has an accurate list of employees who wish to be vaccinated, Kern added.

“To make sure we continue to fight for more doses for the county, our hospitals and private partners,” he said, the county will provide information on when this resource will be available as soon as possible.
