Walmart will stop selling ‘All Lives Matter’ merchandise

Walmart will stop selling “All Lives Matter” products “indefinitely” on its website, after facing a backlash over the items, according to a new report.

“We fundamentally believe that all lives are important and that each individual deserves respect,” Walmart said in a statement, USA Today reported. “As we listen, however, we come to understand that the way some, but not all, people use the phrase ‘All things matter’ in today’s environment intentionally minimizes the focus on the painful reality of racial inequality.”

The move comes a week after Walmart said the Mississippi flag, which includes a Confederate emblem, will no longer be displayed in its stores in that state. Since then, Mississippi lawmakers have voted to remove the symbol.

Walmart will continue to allow other “Lives Matter” merchandise to be sold in its stores, but the items will be screened to ensure they meet its rules and conditions, according to the report.
