In communities across the country, Walmart Supercenter parking lots will be transformed into contactless movie theaters starting in August, and families can also enjoy a virtual summer camp experience that Walmart will launch on July 8, according to a statement. July 1 of the company.
The drive-in cinema experience will span 160 stores through October in partnership with Tribeca Enterprises, according to launch, for a combined total of 320 film screenings. Family movie nights will include movies; special appearances by filmmakers and celebrities; and dealerships delivered directly to customers’ vehicles.
Additional details on the drive-in movie tour will be announced closer to August at www.walmartdrive-in.com.
“Summer hasn’t felt like summer yet, and I know I hear every day, ‘Mom, I’m bored!'” Walmart customer service director Janey Whiteside said in the statement. “Through our digital media and large store presence, we hope to bring summer fun to families across the country. We know that Walmart plays a role in our communities that goes far beyond getting them the necessary supplies, and we see it now more than ever. ”
In addition to the drive-in cinema later this summer, families can attend Camp by Walmart beginning July 8 through the Walmart app, according to the statement. The virtual summer camp will include 50 free activities throughout the summer led by celebrities and experts, including actress Drew Barrymore, actor Neil Patrick Harris, singer-actress Idina Menzel, basketball star LeBron James, and designer Todd Oldham. Camp programming ranges from family bonding activities to teaching campers new skills.
Customers can download the Walmart app or upgrade an existing Walmart app to find Camp by Walmart.
