Voice of America Taxpayer-Funded Under Fire for Sharing Biden Video Similar to Campaign

Voice of America (VOA) faces criticism for sharing a story and video that seems too favorable for alleged Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

Politician reported Thursday that VOA, the internationally-transmitting US government-funded media organization, had posted a video on July 22 of Biden’s comments about his Urdu-speaking service, with audiences in countries like Pakistan and India, on their website and various social media platforms.

The video, which has since been removed, shows Biden attractive to American Muslims during an online campaign event accompanied by subtitles and music in Urdu.

“Your voice is your vote, your vote is your voice. The voices of American Muslims are important. I will be a president who will seek and incorporate and listen to the ideas and concerns of American Muslims on the day-to-day issues that matter most to our communities.” . That will include having American Muslim voices as part of my administration, “Biden said in the video in part.

“Make no mistake, people, 2020 is our year. We are going to immerse ourselves in it with a 20/20 vision,” one narrator is heard saying.

The video includes clips of an ad for the Million Muslim Votes by Emgage Action, a pro-Biden 501c group (4), seeking voter participation. The images of the representative Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. And representative Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich, appear in the ad clips.

According to Politico, four contractors participated in the publication of the pro-Biden content, which was withdrawn after senior VOA officials found it to be in violation of editorial policies.

The contractors were reportedly suspended after the VOA leadership reflected on the incident.

A VOA spokesperson told Politico: “The VOA leadership is conducting a full review of the circumstances surrounding the matter. Corrective action will be taken once all the facts of the matter have been collected and thoroughly evaluated.” .
