Vizio’s 2021 TV prices are here, including its first OLED TV

Since Vizio withdrew its ambitious 2020/2021 TV plans at CES in January, we’ve been eagerly awaiting full details, including pricing, finalized specs, and release dates. Today, we got what we wanted, including an official confirmation of Vizio’s first OLED TV model, which we hope will be a powerful competitor to LG and Sony’s OLED models.

The new models feature a wide range of the most advanced technologies, such as multiple HDR, Dolby Atmos and HDMI 2.1 formats, however, none of them supports NextGen TV (also known as ASTC 3.0). This means that you will need an external ATSC 3.0 tuner if you decide to try the latest free wireless streaming standard with one of these Vizio models. These are televisions that support NextGen TV.

Here is everything that Vizio announced.

Vizio OLED 4K HDR Smart TVs

Let’s start with the most anticipated models, the first 4K televisions with OLED panel by Vizio.

  • OLED55-H1, 55-inch 4K HDR OLED TV: $ 1,300
  • Available autumn 2020

In the photo above with the equally stunning Vizio Elevate Dolby Atmos soundbar, Vizio’s first OLED TV model will come in two screen sizes (55 and 65 inches). It is priced at $ 300 less than its counterpart in LG’s line of BX OLED OLED TVs. With a small 4mm bezel, this TV also has an essentially edge-to-edge image.

According to the company, Vizio’s IQ Ultra processor, a 64-bit engine that uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to provide better color, brightness and detail, according to the company, powers the Smart TV OLED 4K HDR. It comes with the latest Vizio version of its SmartCast TV operating system, which is loaded with the most popular streaming apps and supports AirPlay 2 and Chromecast for easy streaming from all your devices.

In addition to supporting HDMI 2.1 along with HDMI eARC, the OLED 4K HDR Smart TV also supports HDR10, HDR10 +, Dolby Vision and HLG, ensuring it will work with all current High Dynamic Range (HDR) video sources. Vizio’s ProGaming Engine completes the features of OLED 4K HDR Smart TVs with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and resolutions up to 4K at 120Hz. Simply put, this TV changes the rules of the game.

Vizio P-Series Quantum X

The new P-Series Quantum X 4K HDR TV is all about brightness. It features an absolutely scorching 3,000 nit maximum brightness capability, which should take HDR material to a new intense level in terms of realism. Vizio claims that the quantum dot panels used in the P Quantum X series are the highest performing on the market, delivering 180% more color than standard 4K HDR televisions.

Depending on the screen size, the P-series Quantum X has up to 792 local dimming zones, which should be highly capable of ensuring deep blacks with minimal halo effect even in the most challenging scenes.

This model shares all the processing technologies found in the 4K HDR Smart TV OLED, including the IQ Ultra processor, ProGaming Engine, and support for HDR10, HDR10 +, Dolby Vision, HLG, HDMI 2.1, and HDMI eARC.

The P Quantum series includes virtually all the imaging power of the Quantum X, but uses fewer local dimming zones (240) and produces 120% more color than average 4K HDR televisions, with 1200 nits of maximum brightness.

As with the Quantum X, the Quantum P series has an IQ Ultra processor, ProGaming Engine, and support for HDR10, HDR10 +, Dolby Vision, HLG, HDMI 2.1, and HDMI eARC.

Vizio M-Series Quantum

As Vizio’s entry-level QLED TV, the Quantum M-Series emphasizes low prices. Both the M65Q8 and M55Q8 variants are exclusive to Amazon, obtaining the M Series superior image specs with 90 local dimming zones and 800 nits of maximum brightness.

Q7 variants are available from Amazon, as well as many other retailers. The 55 and 65-inch Q7 models have 30 local dimming zones and 600 nits of maximum brightness, while the 50-inch model has 16 local dimming zones and 400 nits of maximum brightness.

All Quantum M series televisions have the same internal technologies as the other Quantum series models, including an IQ Ultra processor, ProGaming Engine, and support for HDR10, HDR10 +, Dolby Vision, HLG, HDMI 2.1, and HDMI eARC.

V series

Vizio’s V series is its most affordable range of 4K HDR TVs. While it doesn’t have the visual impact of its Quantum models, the prices are hard to beat. All V-series models share many of the same attributes as Vizio’s more expensive TVs, including support for HDR10, HDR10 +, Dolby Vision, HLG, HDMI 2.1, and HDMI eARC.

It uses an IQ Active processor, which is better suited to its performance, and a V-Gaming engine. The V-Gaming engine is not VRR compliant but nevertheless offers less input lag and low automatic latency (ALLM).

Like any other Vizio 2021 model, the V Series gets the latest version of SmartCast with its support for Chromecast, AirPlay 2, and many streaming apps.
