Soon: Xiaomi is known for its ability to make cheaper alternatives to the most popular consumer products, including smart TVs. The last thing coming out of their labs is a 120Hz 4K OLED TV that’s designed to cater to cinefiles and gamers alike.
In January, when Vizio first introduced its first OLED TVs, everyone was excited at the prospect of finally being able to replace their old LCD TV with an affordable OLED one. It didn’t take long for Xiaomi to present its own offering, after years of making cheaper alternatives for Samsung, Sony, and LG LED TVs.
Both companies use LG’s 10-bit 4K OLED display panels which is similar to what the latest company uses in their 2020 lineup. This means they also offer a 120Hz refresh rate with FreeSync support, as well as HDMI ports. 2.1 with eARC, both of which are essential if you’re looking for a next-gen console like Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5.
It’s worth noting that these TV panels are supposed to cover 98.5 percent of the DCI-P3 color space, which would make them quite decent for professional imaging and video work. Xiaomi and Vizio claim support for multiple HDR formats like HDR10, HDR10 +, HLG and Dolby Vision.
The most important point of these new televisions is their price, which is finally approaching healthier levels. Vizio’s 55-inch and 65-inch OLED TVs will cost you $ 1,299 and $ 1,999, respectively, and the company says they’ll hit the U.S. sometime this fall.
Xiaomi only has a 65-inch model for now that is priced at around $ 1,839 and is available in China starting today. Most likely, it will be imported to other regions such as Europe and the Middle East in the coming months, with no news of availability in the US.
