Failure to comply with the coronavirus quarantine can lead to fines of up to $ 500 per violation, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health.
Calling COVID-19 a “dangerous and sometimes deadly virus,” ADPH said in a statement that people who have the virus must be quarantined at home for the “time specified by ADPH.”
“Violation of domestic quarantine is a misdemeanor and the fines for each violation can be up to $ 500,” the health agency said in a statement. Suspected rapes must be reported to police and the county health department, the agency added.
Anyone found positive for COVID-19 must be quarantined in their home for 14 days or any other period designated by a health officer. Quarantine rules require people to stay home unless they go to seek necessary medical treatment. People are also asked to quarantine while waiting for the results of a COVID test, a process that can take several days.
As of Monday morning, Alabama has 43,450 coronavirus cases with Jefferson (5,221); Montgomery (4,127); and Mobile (4,080) reporting the highest numbers.
