WWE Executive Vice President and Global Head of Sales and Associations John Brody recently appeared on the SportsPro podcast and spoke about WWE’s expansion into Latin America and operations during the coronavirus pandemic.
WWE has produced its television shows from the Performance Center in Orlando, FL since March due to the COVID-19 outbreak, but there is still hope that the shows will resume soon in the arenas. Brody said WWE President Vince McMahon is ready to run arenas once again, provided they can be safely opened.
“Yeah, look, first of all, if people open sands safely, we’re on it,” said Brody. “Our President and CEO Vince McMahon has said that we are ready to entertain and put smiles on people’s faces, so we look forward to the next step in the transition.”
Regarding WWE sponsors and how they related to how WWE adjusted to the COVID-19 era, Brody spoke about the importance of communication. He also noted that Wrestlemania Print sponsor Snickers was supposed to host an event at Raymond James Stadium earlier this year before plans were changed due to COVID. He also said they have reached out to their main partners to get them closer to action.
“For our partners, first things and I learned this a long time ago; the most important thing is to communicate,” said Brody. “We contacted them in early March about what our plans for WrestleMania were. We spoke to partners like Snickers, who has been the main sponsor of Wrestlemania for five consecutive years. We talked to them about the ways in which we will have to change our focus a bit. We were planning a big event before Wrestlemania At Raymond James Stadium Snickers was going to present live music and all that stuff. You can’t do that, so you evolve what we’ve worked with Mars and Cricket and all of our core partners was to give them more opportunities within pay per view to play content and get closer to the action. “
