Vince McMahon reportedly removes Shayna Baszler from WWE TV

Vince McMahon reportedly removed Shayna Baszler from WWE TV.

It was reported in the last edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Vince has soured in the first NXT Women’s Champion and stopped her push, pulling her out of RAW for the time being.

Vince is said to be depressed by Baszler because he never conceptually understood the in-ring style that an MMA fighter should use in professional wrestling. It was also said by the Observer that Baszler does not “check his buttons” when it comes to women in professional wrestling.

Baszler had worked with Paul Heyman for much of his career, but Vince made the decision on Baszler before Heyman was recently removed from his creative job as CEO of the red brand.

Regarding Heyman’s release from the behind-the-scenes role, it was said that no one really knows the reason for the change beyond the bad. RAW ratings. People in WWE were said to have seen the move before Heyman was fired from that position, but in retrospect it seems Vince disagreed with Heyman on the potential of many of the fighters Heyman was trying to build the brand.

Heyman is still in WWE as a talent in the air, but it is unknown when he and Brock Lesnar will return. It is also unknown when Baszler will return, but has not been used since he defeated Natalya in a Submission in the May 18 episode of RAW. As previously reported, Becky Lynch had raised the idea of losing the RAW Women’s Championship to Baszler in Wrestlemania last April, however, that was rejected.

“I actually thought I was going to lose the title at WrestleMania, which I also pitched, that was the end,” Lynch said in The Fine podcast. “The plans change.”

As noted above, WWE is allegedly removing Kairi Sane from the company when she returns to Japan to be with her husband, whom she married in February. There was talk at one point that Baszler or Charlotte Flair would be the ones to send Sane out of WWE, which would later set up a title fight with RAW Women’s Champion Asuka in Summer festival. It is still unknown if Baszler was still being considered for this location. You can click here to see Sane’s WWE status story.
