Vince McMahon banned WWE Superstars from third-party platforms via Lana’s Instagram posts

Earlier today, Wrestling Inc. Wrestling Twitter was blown up after a report that the WWE had banned its wrestlers from engaging in third-party platforms such as Twitch. The company feels that WWE Superstars are detrimental to the brand by using their names and similarities on these platforms.

Wrestlers have been asked to end their activities on this platform within the next 30 days. Now, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Ser Buzzer Radio reports that the ban has been imposed in light of WWE superstar Lana promoting an energy drink on her official facial Instagram handle.

Here is what Meltzer had to say about the situation:

The straw that broke Lant’s back was C.J. Perry’s Bang Energy Drink was a commercial.

Lana has been promoting “Bang Energy” drinks on her Instagram account for some time, and has had a string of posts hyping up her product over the past few weeks.

Here is a transcript of a letter sent by Vince McMahon to the WWEE talent via Fightful:

“Continuing my comments last Sunday about the renewal of our product, it is imperative that we promote and protect our brand in every possible way. Some of you are engaged with 3rd parties in ways that are harmful to our company using your name and likeness. These activities must be completed within the next 30 days (by Friday, October 2). Persistent violations will result in a penalty, suspension or termination at the discretion of the WWE. These actions are necessary to rebuild our brand as we enter the next phase of growth on WWE.

Lana and many other WWE superstars have social media handles on YouTube, Twitch and other major platforms.

Lana is very active on her official facial YouTube channel and she regularly promotes brands on her Instagram account. Many superstars as well as former wrestlers expressed frustration over it on social media after the report came out. Former WWE Superstar Page has changed the name of its Twitch Channel from ial FacialPageWWE to SaraiaOfficial. We’ll keep you updated on the situation when more reports come out.
