Videos show the Wisconsin Badgers QB accidentally hit the Bowl-Game Trophy

Who can blame Wisconsin Baggers quarterback Graham Mertz for getting a little excited on Wednesday after his team defeated Wake Forest in Duke’s Mayo Bowl?

Mertz threw 130 yards and there was no interruption in the 42-28 win – but while celebrating in the Badgers’ locker room after the game, he was captured on video dropping the team’s football-shaped crystal trophy, smashing it to the floor.

Wisconsin coach Paul Christ joked after Mertz’s post-game fuss, “We just wanted everyone to get that piece of the trophy.

Wisconsin players were originally tight-lipped about who disbanded him, including Jack S born Nabon, who was named the most valuable player in the competition, who “did not comment.” But videos have soon emerged online.

Badgers linebacker Noah Burks, who stopped Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman late in the third quarter, added: “There’s video evidence of a trophy breaker and I’m not going to say anything else about it.” “Although we didn’t know the trophy had arrived.”

Mertz later confessed to breaking the trophy during a post-game virtual news conference.

“I dropped it. It’s on me,” he said.

“My mama would call it boo-boo, but that’s all right, we’ll bounce back,” he continued. “This will be the last trophy I ever give up, I assure you.”

An unexpected victory for the sponsor of the Bowl game played in Charlotte, NC – The players tried to save their prize by tapping Duke’s real jar of real mayonnaise on the basis of the trophy.

Despite this tragedy, Mertz gave up three touchdowns and Wisconsin, all by other players – to turn the second half interval into 21 points, would turn a close game into a route closer to the Damon Deacons. Five players scored touchdowns for the Badgers.

The game lasted 21-21 at the end of the third quarter, until Berks stopped Hartman and bounced off a 41-yard ball and set up a 14-yard scoring strike, with Mertz to fullback Mason Stockke giving the Badgers the first lead.

Hartman was picked up fast on the next three assets despite throwing an interception throughout the season.

“It felt like one led to the other,” added the born Nabo.

“Throughout the game, similar concepts have been coming up,” he continued. “We kind of knew where he wanted to throw the ball. He was throwing early in the game. But we got one thing about where he wanted to go with the ball.”
