Videos: macOS Big Sur is not just a visual redesign, this is how macOS 11 will sound

macOS 11 Big Sur represents a massive visual redesign of the Mac operating system, offering a variety of new icons, a translucent menu bar, and much more. However, in addition to the visual redesign, macOS Big Sur completely reviews the sound effects.

A couple of new YouTube videos from the channel Pomamitia We offer a detailed tutorial on the new system and alert sounds in macOS 11 Big Sur, compared side by side with macOS 10.15 Catalina sound effects. Some of the changes are more subtle, while others are completely new.

Apple explains that the new system alert sounds in macOS 11 Big Sur were created using snippets from the originals, so they may sound familiar:

The sounds in the system are brand new and even more pleasing to the ear. The new system alerts were created using snippets from the originals, making them sound familiar.

Personally, I am a big fan of the new sound effects in macOS 11 Big Sur, particularly the new sound from the screen capture system. The original shutter sound effect was always a little creepy and made it look like you were taking a picture of someone or something, but the new screenshot sound is much more subtle.
