The game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots was what we did not expect.
It was played on Monday instead of Sunday, and the Patriots’ quarterback was Brian Hoyer instead of Kim Newton. Chris Jones was inactive, as was New England’s Sonny Mitchell. Both teams made unforced mistakes and they weren’t in sync for a while trying to schedule and eliminate injuries.
The most fun to see the result was not the Chiefs game, but nothing to complain about with a strong defensive performance and a 16-point win.
Here are some of the ones that stood out on Monday night:
Winners
- Rashad Fenton: We saw Panton make a lot of plays in the first part – including a pair of terrific pass breakups and a face for loss. He played physically and showed confidence in the new extended role. He fought first-round pick N’Kill Harry, giving each play a fight. To start the second half, it was more of an equalizer, as he smashed Demir Bird down the field to end the Patriots’ opening drive. Harry got a touchdown on Fenton, but Fonton returned with a hurdle to cap a great night for Pants Secondary.
- Frank Clark And Support Charlton: Old friends from Michigan were rushing to the pass when the team needed it the most. Clarke closed the first half with an incredible, unbelievable effort to kick Hoyer and keep the point off the board. He also did his usual job in the running game with several stops. While the Patriots were on the Chiefs ’10-yard line, Taco went to Hoyer and flinched in the third quarter. With Chris Jones in particular, these two were huge for Steve Spagnullo’s defense.
- Tyranny Matthew: You could see the anger and frustration whenever the Patriots moved the ball. It looks like he’s on the verge of a significant game in the first three quarters, making it a peak-six that has put the game out of reach. After the game, in typical fashion, landlord Was not satisfied. And that’s why it’s the best.
- Juan Thornhill: Matthew’s partner in secondary had his best game of the youth season. Thornhill delivered six tackles, one pass defense and interception. If he’s getting back to full strength, it’s going to be a fun year watching these Chiefs defend.
- Tommy Townsend: We saw more of Rookie Punt than we wanted to see this week, but he really delivered. More than 60 yards per punt is helpful in an average field-place fight when the chief’s offense isn’t hitting all cylinders.
- Mike panel: The chiefs asked the panel this week, filling out the injured Chris Jones against the Patriots team who wanted to run football. The big guy delivered with impressive 10tack calls to lead the team. He is in the previous stage in his second game.
- Travis Kells: It is the best tight end of the league due to its ability to run elite routes down the field. He had a beauty on Monday, including the game’s biggest game that went up to 45 yards. When his team needs a spark, Zeus Always deliver.
Lost
- McCall Hardman: Mistakes and wrong starts of two special teams Penalty Hardman got into the doghouse. He managed a touchdown on a short pass from Patrick Mahoms, but otherwise, this was not his night. He has yet to show really consistent development which we hope at this point. There is still value in what he does, but mistakes can outweigh contributions to a nearby game.
- Darrell Williams: His role over Darwin Thompson in the Chiefs’ second run seemed to be secure, but he couldn’t get anything against the Patriots. He has one target and one carry a total of two yards.
- Derrick Nanadi:
