Victims of Hennessey Fire died in the same house

Three people killed in the Hennessey Fire this week died at the same house in remote Napa County, authorities said Friday.

Napa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Henry Wofford said the as yet unidentified fire victims were found Thursday at a home on the 6900 block of Highway 128. Wofford said authorities have not determined whether the victims are related, and have not provided information on their ages as generations.

The area is a winding stretch of Highway 128 south of Lake Berryessa and about 13 miles west of Winters, where dozens of homes were destroyed by the Hennessey Fire, the largest of the LNU complex of fires now more then 200,000 acres over four North Bay occupied counties.

“That area was absolutely devastated,” Wofford said. “It was a very hard fire in that area for sure.”

Wofford said the grueling work of identifying the victims is being made harder due to extensive fire damage, and compares the challenge to what investigators face in identifying the remains of Camp Fire victims.

“That’s kind of where we are right now,” he said.

Four civilians have died in the Hennessey Fire – in addition to the three victims in Napa County, Solano County officials confirmed Thursday that one person was killed by the fire there. In addition, an employee of Pacific Gas and Electric Company died while involved in arson efforts in Solano County.
