Vovatosa Police Chief Barry Weber said Sunday that a 15-year-old Hispanic boy was arrested in connection with Friday’s shooting at a Mayfair shopping mall.
Weber said during a news conference that the incident was not a “random act” but instead sparked a scuffle between the two groups, who said four “ism innocent people” were injured.

The suspect, a Milwaukee resident, fled on foot with others as he exited the mall, according to police. He was arrested on Saturday evening following the execution of a search warrant. Weber said he believes the boy was arrested during a traffic stop and a weapon was also found at the scene of the arrest.
The process of securing the million, which has 1.2 million square feet of space, took about six hours and involved seven strategic teams. During that time, investigators interviewed victims and witnesses to identify the shooter.
The identity of the suspect has not been revealed to prevent the investigation from compromising and to avoid possible destruction of the evidence.
Weber said initial information about the shooter was “incorrect,” adding that “we were looking for someone,” adding that he was a white man, but no age. “As the investigation progressed and investigators began to develop leads, Weber said he believed it was” someone’s underage. “
In addition to the 15-year-old boy, other persons involved in the altercation have also been taken into custody. The motive for the altercation is under investigation.

Most of the victims are recovering from fatal injuries and have been released from the hospital, police added. Weber and Mayor Dennis Mbrid both insisted there was no immediate threat to the public, and Mayfair Mall was still a “wonderful place to shop” and a “safe place.”
“This kind of thing can happen anytime, anywhere,” Weber said. “I encourage people to show their support for Mayfair.”
“I’ll tell you this, I’m with Mayfair as soon as I get out of here.” “I don’t have any problems. And I never have and I never will. It’s a safe place.”
