UTC warns Chattanooga area residents of potential fraternal COVID-19 exposure

The University of Tennessee in Chattanooga is warning residents of Chattanooga area about potential exposure to COVID-19 as a result of interaction with members of one of its fraternities, according to a news release from UTC officials.

UTC’s COVID-19 Campus Support Team and the Hamilton County Health Department are working together to contact efforts to determine who may be at risk of exposure to the Kappa Sigma fraternal members’ virus beginning Aug. 8. The leadership of the fraternal and members are also assisting the school in its striving to follow student contacts.

No information was released on how many members of Kappa Sigma fraternal tested positive for COVID-19.

People who may have been exposed are encouraged to test and work with the UTC team and fill out the UTC online COVID-19 notification form at https://cm.maxient.com/reportingform.php?UTChattanooga&layout_id=61 or contact the Office of Student Outreach and Support at (423) 425-2299 or [email protected].

COVID-19 testing for UTC staff and students is available through their healthcare provider, University Health Services and the Hamilton County Health Department. Information on locations and times for free COVID-19 testing by the Department of Community Health can be found at http://health.hamiltontn.org/AllServices/Coronavirus(COVID-19)/HealthDepartmentAffiliatedFREETestingSitesin HamiltonCounty.aspx.
