The Utah Department of Health has reported more than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases for the second day in a row.
There have now been 62,852 cases reported across the state since March, an increase of 1,077 in new cases since Friday.
751,950 people have now been tested, an increase of 8,213.
The seven-day rolling average of positive tests is now per day, or tested, or about 12.7% of those tests.
Of those, about 50,957 positive cases are believed to have been “recovered”, having contracted the virus three weeks ago and as a result did not pass.
Since March 4, people7777 people have been hospitalized with COVID-19; Currently 137 people are hospitalized.
Three new deaths have been reported, bringing the statewide mortality rate to 40-40. New deaths include the following:
- The woman, aged 45-64, a resident of Salt Lake County, was hospitalized at the time of death
- The woman, a resident of Utah County between -84-8484, was not hospitalized at the time of death
- W, a resident of Washington County, male, between -45-6464, hospitalized at the time of death
In light of the rise in cases, Governor Gary Herbert told Fox13 that he would meet with his advisers over the weekend to discuss possible sanctions that could be imposed to slow the spread of Covid-19.
