USS Michael Murphy: Major Coronavirus Outbreak The crew of a Navy warship was hit

The ship has been in port in Hawaii so the outbreak has had a limited operational impact.

An official said most of the sailors who have contracted the virus showed no symptoms and many are expected to return to the ship in the coming days.

A U.S. Navy spokesman confirmed that “personnel assigned to the USS Michael Murphy tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Nov. 4,” but did not give a number of sailors who contracted the disease, citing Department of Defense policy.

“Employees who tested positive for CIVID-19 have been isolated. Many precautionary factors and non-essential staff members are undergoing a two-week self-isolation period according to disease control centers. And prevention guidelines,” CMDR said. Nicole Schwagman, a spokeswoman for Surface Forces Pacific, told CNN. Said via email.

NBC first reported a morning outbreak on the ship.

The U.S. military says a car bomb had exploded at an Iraqi police recruiting center at Kisak, west of Mosul. The Coastguard announced that one of its ships, the Coast Guard Cutter Stratton, was forced to return to port after testing positive for the virus by its 11 crew members.

The Coastguard ship took part in counter-narcotics patrols in the Eastern Mediterranean before being forced to return to its home port in Alemada, California.

Affected crew members reported mild symptoms and are receiving medical care, the Coast Guard said in a statement.

The Navy has made progress in preventing outbreaks on its ships in months after two major outbreaks of the USS Kid and the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt.

An outbreak on Theodore Roosevelt killed a sailor and set a series of events that ended with the ship’s commanding officer being fired and the Navy’s acting secretary resigning.
