Windows 10 users continue to experience issues after issues, some of which could / should have been avoided. And now Microsoft has confirmed another Windows 10 warning.
Windows 10 has encountered new connectivity problems
Collected by Windows Latest, Microsoft has confirmed that its increasingly problematic Windows 10 May 2020 update may cut Internet users, even when their Internet connections are working. Also, the problem has been affecting an increasing number of users for several months as Microsoft continues to roll out the update on more and more PCs. Then you need to be on guard.
07/20 update: Microsoft has confirmed another significant problem with Windows 10, but this time the company has issued a solution simultaneously. Sighted by BleepingComputerMicrosoft says a problem with its popular Disk Cleanup utility could cause PCs to refuse to boot. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the issue affects users running the Windows 10 May 2020 update, but Microsoft has released a fix in Windows Update that should automatically address the issue and bring the operating system to version 19041.84. Last week, Microsoft also patched another May 2020 bug that could cause Windows 10 to throw error messages and blue screens when connecting to or disconnecting from Thunderbolt docks. Despite its name, Microsoft still prevents many PCs from installing the May 2020 update due to known hardware conflicts. Given its troubled start in life, it can be a blessing in disguise for many PCs.
What affected users see is that the standard Windows 10 “No Internet Access” label (a yellow triangle) appears on their WiFi or Ethernet icon in the system tray (lower right corner). Because the warning is false, the good news is that your Internet browser will continue to work. The bad news is that many installed apps base their connectivity on Windows 10 status, so they won’t even try to connect if Windows 10 says no connection. Applications affected by this can range from Windows 10’s built-in Cortana search to games and streaming services with Windows 10 clients, such as Spotify.
The irony is that one of the features affected by this is Microsoft’s Windows 10 Feedback Hub, which has prevented users from easily reporting the issue, even though forum queries have started popping up from frustrated users in the forum. Microsoft Community.
Recognizing the problem on his TechNet forum, a Microsoft engineer said Microsoft is aware of the problem and is currently investigating it, but has not yet found a solution. Meanwhile, some (but not all) affected users have found this solution to be effective:
- Type ‘Registry Editor’ in Windows Search
- Open it and look for: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Services NlaSvc Parameters Internet”
- Change the “EnableActiveProbing” value from 0 to 1
- Click ‘OK’, close the editor
- Restart your computer
Surprisingly, this is the second time that a Windows 10 update has broken Internet connections in the past three months, and Microsoft admits that its equally troublesome update KB4556799 did so in May.
In fact, since May, Windows 10 updates have impacted top-tier games, users ripped from their profiles (twice), broken printers, crashes, deleted user data and now cut connectivity to Internet twice.
