Updates on Florida State Football Practice: August 14th

Update, 12:15 p.m.

Mike Norvell had to talk a lot more about football today after a hectic day of media availability yesterday. The ‘Noles head coach mentioned that today was another big day of situation resources for her, before her first official contraction at Doak Campbell Stadium was tomorrow night.

Norvell said the defense dominated today’s practice, and that the offense is still coming. Two boys who knocked out Norvell were Jarvis Brownlee and Raymond Woodie. Both players have been called multiple times for getting turnouts early in camp. Norvell said: ‘Both boys are doing a pretty nice job. They will continue to see effort and the buy-in. Also show tremendous work in special teams. Those two guys had really good weeks. ”

The new offensive system brings it all back to FSU. Norvell said newcomer DJ Lundy and redshirt senior Armani Kerr were the main contributors there so far.

Norvell also mentioned that he still has to talk to Warren Thompson since his post on twitter yesterday, but that his team is “on the same page.”

Update, 12:40 p.m.

We heard from DB Coach Marcus Woodson for the first time this fall today. Woodson mentioned that this is the deepest defensive back room he has ever coached. With that depth comes the ability to turn boys in and out and play as a unit. Woodson said: We will certainly work as a unit this year. I have gained more depth this year than I have ever experienced … Not many rotate within a series, but per series. ”

Woodson also spoke highly of defensive coordinator Adam Fuller, calling himself a future head coach. While working with Fuller, he said: ‘It has been a great experience. Adam is a young, sharp emerging coordinator, and future head coach. ”

Update, 12:45 p.m.

Close end Camren McDonald met with the media today. McDonald talks about the new offensive system he’s in and how it can bring the most out of the very close group. He said: ‘The demands of the tight end in this crime are more than I have ever made in my career. We are a feature not only in the running game but also the passing game. ”

McDonald’s is one of many boys who have seen an increase in weight and strength since Josh Storms took over the weight room at FSU. Regarding his weight gain and the physical stance of the team, McDonald said, “From a physical standpoint, Coach Storms has done an excellent job with the entire team. I see it with myself and in my teams. ”

We will update this piece with video for each interview as they become available.

Well, after the last few days, today has been a bit boring, huh?

After a day in which Florida State Seminoles football was brought back into the national spotlight for the wrong reasons, things have been relatively quiet on the home side – a welcome breath of fresh air in the year 2020. FSU is practicing again in full Friday pads, prepping for what tomorrow should be a scrimmage.

“You’re starting to see them play a little faster,” Norvell said Wednesday. ‘You work through in many different combinations. You try to create as much competition as possible. Still building up early in camp after this control situation here on Saturday. ”

As has been the routine in the fall practice, head coach Mike Norvell and a few players will meet with the media at 11:30 a.m. and we will update you in the comments below.
