Upcoming Stardew Valley update adds final content

If Stardew Valley were a flower, it would be a perennial, constantly coming back every year with new flowers. Not long after releasing the massive 1.4 update that left a mark on every part of the game, developer ConcernedApe announced that it would be working on another free content update. More than four years later, he still has plans for new additions, which will include endgame content for update 1.5, he says.

ConcernedApe has a habit of being pretty quiet between updates, at least on Twitter. It will appear every several months to hand out a small teaser like this to show something in the works for the next update.

It looks like Willy’s fish shop on the beach pier has a new back door. Where could it lead? Other locals in Pelican Town have rooms in their houses. I always assumed Willy had one at the top of his shop’s staircase as a kind of modern loft area, but it doesn’t actually lead anywhere. Or maybe it’s another type of secret room only accessible after making good friends with the local fisherman.

Whatever the case may be, ConcernedApe says the new update will also add “a significant new piece of endgame content and more,” though I’m not sure if Willy’s new room is the final part of the game or something else.

Like blueberries in a greenhouse, Stardew Valley continues to sprout new fruit. Like literally. Fans have already voted to add bananas in the next update. Other than this new teaser, that’s the only thing we’re sure will come in Stardew Valley 1.5.

For now, ConcernedApe says it is steadily coming in but is still on a “whetstone phase nose.” The giant update 1.4 released on PC in late 2019, so it’s not surprising that there is still a lot of work to do in the next one.

In the meantime, perhaps you will fix your save file with some of the best Stardew Valley mods, one of which should be this new one that allows you to swim all over the valley.
