Unova week spawns, raids, eggs, research, shinies and more

It’s time for the third week of Ultra Unlocks, celebrating the Pokémon GO The community’s ability gets cracked and ends a ton of challenges during Pokémon GO Fest 2020. We’ve had Dragon Week and Enigma Week, and now we’ve done things with Unova Week, which celebrates all things Gen 5 and released a few new critters while we’re out there. Let’s go in there.

Start / end times: Unova Week begins on Friday, August 14th at 1pm Pacific, and lasts one more week until Friday, August 21st at 1pm Pacific.

Spawns: Mainly this list are four new creatures: Sewaddle, Cottonee, Emolga, and Bouffalant, the latter of which will be available only in the New York City area: I will review the decision on whether New Jersey, or the ensuite cultural fallout. Other than that, expect a bunch of other Gen 5 creatures, and we’ll update once we have a better idea of what they are.

Shinies: Rye roll is shiny this time, taking on a purple tint for its strangely cute little rock face. Genesect can also be glamorous, and is certainly the price of the event: look for some distinctive red armor.

Eggs: We know Sewaddle and Cottonee will definitely be hatching eggs, and Niantic uses their usual “if you’re lucky” disclaimer to indicate that Emolga may be appearing at very rare rates. Otherwise you expect more Unova Pokemon and an update soon.

Research: We will see this time when we end up on time with some timely research. Dragon week had some, but Enigma week did not. Even if we do not, we will probably get some field research that rewards accounts with Unova Pokémon.

Raids: So far, we only know Genesect, which will make its appearance in 5-star raids. Expect more Gen 5 raid bosses, who will start making their appearance an hour after the event begins. Check back for more.

And that’s the big deal: at this point, we’re putting a serious belly on the Unova region, preparing for the inevitable drip of Gen 6 next year, as long as society’s basics remain intact until it makes sense to to release augmented reality updates from Pokemon game.
