Ukrainian president warns citizens against interference in elections


Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warns his country’s citizens against interfering in foreign elections, calling it “unacceptable” in any case.

Zelensky also denied any possibility that Ukraine was involved in attempts to intervene in the US presidential election in 2020. The remarks came just a day after a top US intelligence official said a pro-Russian Ukrainian lawmakers joined a Kremlin effort to mediate in the November elections.

“Once again, I assure our partners that Ukraine has not allowed and will not allow itself to intervene in the elections in the future and thereby damage our trustworthy and established cooperative relations with the United States,” Zelensky said in a statement. on Saturday on Facebook shared on Facebook.

“Some Kremlin-linked actors are also seeking to boost President Trump’s candidacy on social media and Russian television,” Evanina said.

He said Ukrainian lawmaker Andriy Derkach, whom he described as “pro-Russia”, “spread allegations of corruption – including by disclosing leaked phone calls – to undermine the candidacy of Biden and the Democratic Party.”
