Zelensky press conference
The President of Ukraine appealed to Ukrainians on the anniversary of the referendum for the declaration of the country’s independence.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the anniversary of the referendum for the proclamation of Ukraine’s independence asked Ukrainians not to measure their love for their homeland on social media. This is stated on Zelensky’s official Telegram channel.
The head of state expressed the opinion that the word “Independence” should be capitalized, although this is not provided for in the spelling rules.
According to him, when telling children about the independence, sovereignty, freedom and independence of Ukraine, their sincere surprise can be heard: “How, how could it be otherwise?”
The president recalled that on December 1, 1991, an all-Ukraine referendum was held, in which more than 90% of citizens said yes to independent Ukraine, more than 28 million votes expressed the desire to live in a free Ukraine .
“Later on we will understand that achieving independence does not mean the definitive end of the struggle. That we must defend it with arms in hand, at the cost of our own lives. We are doing it for the seventh consecutive year. We are doing everything possible to bring peace and return our territories. For the sake of future generations and their sincere surprise: “How can it be otherwise, as Ukraine free, united and independent?”, – he wrote.
“Let’s think about it and remember every time we want to start a battle on Facebook with our compatriots on the topic“ Who loves Ukraine more, better and more correctly? ”. The main thing today is that we have everything we need to have become a powerful and competitive country. And Ukraine has every chance of being that way soon. But this is possible under a simple condition: if we all work together for this our effort, “added the president.
It was previously reported that Zelensky could go for a second term. The deputy chief of the Presidency pointed out that the issue of the reelection of the current president is not relevant.
