There is no relationship between Ukraine and Russia now, but there has been a dialogue between the leaders of the countries, says the president.

It is still “too early to talk about relations between Ukraine and Russia”, the meaning of this word has been lost. This opinion on Tuesday September 15 was expressed by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, during a visit to Austria.

“Unfortunately, we lost this word (relationship). And we lost the meaning of this word between our countries, after Russia illegally annexed Crimea and started the war in eastern Ukraine,” he said, responding to a question about relations with the Russian President Vladimir. Putin.

Zelenskiy added that in the past, Ukrainians and Russians were called “brothers and sisters” and the countries had excellent relations.

“And today there are 14,000 dead, and today there are not two territories in our independent country. For this reason, I have not yet found a word about what is” between us, “he stressed.

At the same time, Zelensky signaled the beginning of a dialogue between the leaders of Ukraine and the Russian Federation, which made it possible to return detained citizens and establish a truce in Donbass.

“I think this is the beginning of a dialogue. And it seems to me that it is still very, very early for us to talk about” relationships, “he added.

Before that, Zelensky said he expects a new meeting of the four Normandy chiefs advisers in ten days. The previous one was last week and, according to him, not all the issues were discussed there.
