The Ukrainian leader demanded that the former head of state not manipulate the consciences of Ukrainians.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized former head of state Petro Poroshenko and promised to fine him if the Fifth Element gym violates the weekend’s quarantine. Zelensky announced this on Wednesday, November 18, in his video message.
“The penalties for weekend quarantine violations will be the same for everyone. By the way, this also applies to the owner of the Fifth Element financial club,” Zelensky said.
In addition, he demanded that Poroshenko not manipulate the consciences of Ukrainians.
“On the one hand, it screams that the situation with the spread of COVID is critical, on the other hand, you are contributing to this. You must decide, be it a savior or a businessman,” Zelensky said.
He also advised him not to “spend money on robot farms” but to keep the money to pay the fines. Zelensky said that “he will return to the budget what his predecessors stole.”
At the same time, Poroshenko called these accusations agony.
It is known that during the “weekend quarantine”, law enforcement officers discovered that the “Fifth Element” sports complex in the Podolsk district of Kiev was operating as usual.
According to the Kiev police, the law enforcement officers warned the administration about administrative and criminal liability.
The club itself said the weekend’s quarantine was not violated. The institution claims to provide “rehabilitation services,” and the government decree does not prohibit it. Now, the club plans to appeal the actions of the security forces in court.
Earlier it was reported that deputies from the Verkhovna Rada did not support the draft resolution on the abolition of the weekend quarantine. Only 149 deputies voted “in favor” of the corresponding decision, with a minimum of 226 required.
In turn, the Cabinet of Ministers explained the meaning of the weekend quarantine and promised compensation. There are about seven tools to help those areas that will be affected by the new type of quarantine.
