Zelensky reacted to the statement of the Venice Commission on the CCU
Venislavsky says that the dissolution of the KSU is the only possible way out of this situation.
The presidential representative in the Constitutional Court Fyodor Venislavsky said that the termination of the powers of constitutional judges is the only possible way out of the current situation. He said this on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24 on Saturday, October 31.
“I think that the KSU with its decision actually crossed out its legitimacy. It is unlikely that this composition of the KSU can adequately respond to the evaluation of the laws that it initiated. Therefore, I believe that the bill is absolutely adequate.” Venislavsky emphasized.
He added that now it is unlikely that an exceptionally legitimate and constitutional solution can be sought that will allow us to get out of the constitutional crisis.
“It is necessary to understand that in this situation it is difficult to find a purely legal solution. There must be a political and legal solution. It was such a decision at the meeting of the NSDC that the president proposed, that is, the bill that was presented to the Verkhovna Rada. …
We will recall that previously in the Council of Europe they opposed the dissolution of the KSU. The Venice Commission and GRECO sent a letter to Dmitry Razumkov about Zelensky’s bill on the Constitutional Court.
Before that, the European Parliament supported the resignation of the judges of the Constitutional Court. MEPs issued a statement on the abolition of the article on lies in the CCU statements and stated that they support Zelensky’s legislative initiative to restore the integrity of the CCU proceedings.
