Zelensky named ways out of the crisis with the KSU

Representatives of various government institutions discussed the next steps to overcome the crisis in which, after the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, was the anti-corruption system of Ukraine.

The solutions to the crisis with the Constitutional Court were considered on Friday, November 27, at a meeting of the National Council for Anti-Corruption Policy. The meeting was chaired by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said the press service of the Office of the President.

The meeting was also attended by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmygal, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmitry Razumkov, representatives of the government, parliament, the office of the president, law enforcement agencies, the heads of NABU and NAPK , international partners of Ukraine.

It is noted that Zelensky focused on the need to prepare and present changes to the current Ukrainian legislation as quickly as possible to overcome the constitutional crisis.

In particular, Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked the Verkhovna Rada to adopt a bill on the restoration of criminal responsibility for evading a statement and deliberately entering false information into it as soon as possible.

“The criminal liability for eluding the filing of a statement and deliberately entering false information into it must be quite severe and allow the possibility of imposing a prison sentence. Corrupt officials must be held accountable before the law,” the head of state emphasized.

The next step to overcome the crisis, according to the president, should be the restoration of the law. Prevention of corruption… This document should ensure the complete reestablishment of controls of statements, including statements by judges, and the corresponding powers should remain in the NAPC.

The chairman of the Legal Policy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Andriy Kostin, said that, at the request of the president, an online visit by experts from the Venice Commission will be held on December 2 to assess the status of anti-corruption legislation. .

“We hope that the corresponding opinion of the Venice Commission will be prepared by December 10. This will also give us the opportunity to prepare for a comprehensive and systemic reform of the Constitutional Court,” he said.

Introducing the previous developments of the bill on the restoration of the powers of the NAPK, the chair of the Anti-Corruption Policy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Anastasia Radzina, emphasized that the working group in parliament has already developed a framework for said restoration. The bill is expected to be registered next week.

The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, supported the prompt consideration of the relevant bills, in particular the President’s initiative.

“I can confirm the fact that today the president’s initiative was registered in the Verkhovna Rada, and I believe that it should be considered in the Verkhovna Rada as soon as possible. And we can refine all other things,” he said.

At the end of the meeting, Zelensky also said that this is only the beginning to get out of the constitutional crisis. A plan and procedure is being developed for the implementation of judicial reform in general.

The day before, it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada working group had agreed on a number of key positions to resolve the situation with the electronic income declaration of officials.
