We need new approaches, digitization, a willingness to work with people who think much faster than previous generations, said the president.

Ukrainian education needs to be modernized according to modern requirements. This was announced on Thursday, September 17, by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a meeting with the rectors of Lviv universities, the president’s office said.

“In today’s world, which is changing very fast and where information is not becoming less obsolete, universities cannot remain the same as 20 or 30 years ago,” said the president.

According to him, innovation in education is really necessary: new approaches are needed, digitization, the willingness to work with people who think much faster than previous generations.

Zelensky also noted that the coronavirus epidemic has created a number of new, never-before-seen challenges for Ukrainian education.

“Therefore, it is necessary to find all the opportunities to work in such conditions, to teach students, to keep their attention and interest,” he emphasized. According to the president, this can be achieved if the State acts together with representatives of our universities, academies and institutes.

As a reminder, this year Ukrainian applicants have submitted more than a million electronic applications for admission to universities for bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
