Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy promulgated the NSDC’s decision on the application of personal special economic measures and other restrictive measures. (sanctions) in relation to HMO People’s Deputy Taras Kozak.

Taras Kozak is the owner of 112 Ukraine TV channels, ZIK, Newsone.
«Promulgate the decision of the Defense and National Security Council of Ukraine dated February 2, 2021 “On the application of personal special economic measures and other restrictive measures (sanctions) ”, the message said.
The following restrictive measures are introduced against Kozak:
- asset freezing: temporary restriction of a person’s right to use and dispose of their property;
- restriction of business operations;
- restrictions, partial or total termination of the transit of resources, flights and transportation through the territory of Ukraine;
- prevent the withdrawal of capital from Ukraine;
- suspension of the fulfillment of economic and financial obligations;
- revocation or suspension of licenses and other permits, obtaining (the presence) of which is a condition for the implementation of a certain type of activity;
- total or partial prohibition of transactions with securities, whose issuers are persons who have been sanctioned in accordance with this law;
- termination of the issuance of permits, licenses for the import into Ukraine from a foreign state or export from Ukraine of monetary values and restrictions on the issuance of cash on payment cards issued by residents of a foreign state;
- prohibition of technology transfer, rights over intellectual property objects;
Also for 5 years they imposed sanctions on channels 112-Ukraine, NewsOne, ZIK – New format, Ariadna TV, TVVybor, Partner TV and Leader TV, a TV and radio company 112-TV, NOVINI 24 GODINI, New communications.
Sanctions against television channels include:
- asset blocking;
- prevent the withdrawal of capital from Ukraine;
- suspension of the fulfillment of economic and financial obligations;
- revocation or suspension of licenses and other permits, obtaining (the presence) of which is a condition for the implementation of a certain type of activity;
- ban on the use of Ukraine’s radio-frequency resource;
- termination of the provision of broadcasting services / distribution of television programs / provision of telecommunications services and use of public telecommunications networks, and others.
In December 2018, Kozak reported on the purchase of nine companies of the 112 group from Ukraine, estimating their value on the acquisition date at 72.87 million UAH.
On October 4, 2018, Verkhovna Rada supported an appeal to the NSDC regarding the imposition of sanctions against companies that are part of the ownership structure of 112 Ukrainian channels and NewsOne TV.
