President blames mayors for rising coronavirus incidence
The increase in incidence is promoted by local authorities who organize mass events, said the president.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says the incidence of the coronavirus in Ukraine would be lower if it weren’t for local elections. He made such a statement on Friday, September 18, during a visit to the Ternopil region.
“I think that if it weren’t for the municipal elections, and I tell you frankly, we would have had less illnesses. People always go towards the leader in any small town and even town, always if they see that even the president of a town, OTG or city, the mayor … If the mayor comes out and says: “I believe that the authorities overestimate the complexity of the situation, I believe that there is nothing wrong, I believe that the day of the city can be held and gathered 20- 30 thousand people. That’s why today we see 3 thousand new cases of COVID-19, “he said.
The president believes that Ukraine had a fairly liberal quarantine, unlike other countries. But now the situation with the coronavirus in Ukraine is one of the most difficult.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health outraged the celebration of the day of the Dnieper and Odessa, which brought together thousands of people. Law enforcement officers have opened criminal cases against the organizers of the events.
