Zelensky discussed the way out of the crisis with the KSU

At a meeting of the Legal Reform Commission, the head of state proposed to carry out a comprehensive audit and evaluation of the effectiveness of the reforms already implemented previously.

On Wednesday, November 11, for the first time after the hateful decisions of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, the first meeting of the Law Reform Commission of the President of Ukraine took place. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who suffers from coronavirus, has joined in videoconference format, reported the press service of the Presidency.

Serhiy Ionushas, ​​chairman of the Law Reform Commission of the President of Ukraine, said he considers it necessary to adopt new legislative bases for the work of the Constitutional Court.

“To restore public confidence in the Constitutional Court, the President of the Legal Reform Commission considers it necessary to adopt new legislative principles for the work of the CCU. It is also necessary to harmonize the legislation that regulates the activities of the State Investigations Office and the National Anti-Corruption Office of Ukraine with the Constitution of Ukraine. The Security Service of Ukraine should be deprived of functions unusual for it, in particular for the investigation of economic crimes and corruption, “said the press service.

In turn, Zelensky recalled that on October 27 the NSDC recommended to the Legal Reform Commission to intensify the preparation of proposals on judicial reform.

“A thorough audit and evaluation of the effectiveness of previously implemented reforms is worthwhile. Only with such analysis will we be able to correct errors and create legislation consistent with the Constitution of Ukraine, international legal acts and the recommendations of the Commission. from Venice, “Zelensky said.

According to him, the lack of adequate constitutional regulation, its incompleteness or vagueness of certain aspects of the activities of the Judicial Power have become the reason for the current crisis processes.

“I look forward to effective decisions and concrete departures from the Commission, both from the current constitutional crisis and from a total crisis of confidence in the judiciary. Even if this requires amending the Constitution of Ukraine,” said the Head of State.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Office of the President, the Verkhovna Rada, the government, law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies, as well as diplomatic representatives of Ukraine’s partner countries.

Recall that at the end of October, Zelensky presented to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on the restoration of public confidence in constitutional procedures, marked “urgent”. The head of state asks to recognize the decision of the Constitutional Court of October 27 “null and void” and adopted in the context of a real conflict of interest.

Zelensky sees the voluntary resignation of the judges as a way out of the situation with the KSU.
