Zelensky had a telephone conversation with the President of Azerbaijan
The heads of state discussed by phone the fight against the coronavirus epidemic, as well as the situation in eastern Ukraine.
During a telephone conversation, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the coronavirus epidemic, the situation in Donbass, and the bilateral partnership with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. This was reported by Zelensky’s press service on Tuesday, September 22.
Zelensky noted that Ukrainians are already tired of the quarantine and expressed hope for the early creation of a vaccine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also told Ilham Aliyev about the situation in Donbass, recalling the ceasefire regime that has been going on for almost two months. In turn, Aliyev announced Azerbaijan’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
In addition, the presidents discussed the progress of a number of large-scale investment and infrastructure projects, with the active participation of large Azerbaijani companies and investors, which are being implemented in Ukraine.
“It is nice that Azerbaijani partners are actively involved in the implementation of major projects in our country. A striking example is the overhaul of 38 kilometers of the M-01 Kiev – Chernigov – Novye Yarilovichi highway. We are also making progress towards the completion of construction from a service center at the Chongar checkpoint, “Zelensky said.
Zelensky also pointed out the dynamics of bilateral political dialogue and invited Azerbaijani companies to participate in large-scale privatization. He proposed to intensify cooperation in the framework of projects with Antonov State Enterprise.
The heads of state also discussed cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian fields, in sports, tourism and the field of interpersonal contacts. Zelensky appreciated the fact that the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum has implemented the project of the first lady of Ukraine and provides tourists with the services of an audio guide in Ukrainian.
We will remember that earlier Zelensky discussed with Borrell the unemployment of Crimea. The head of state discussed the creation of a permanent platform where the issue of unemployment in the peninsula will be discussed.
