Zelensky noted that the return of 140 Ukrainian prisoners would not have taken place without his direct conversation with the president of the Russian Federation.

Not all problematic issues can be resolved in the Normandy format, with the participation of the heads of Germany and France, explained the President of Ukraine.

Direct negotiations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin are necessary to solve important problems for Ukraine. This was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with Politico, published on Tuesday, October 6.

According to him, not all problematic issues can be solved in the Normandy format, with the participation of the heads of Germany and France. “Only in the Normandy format, it doesn’t work, it’s not enough. We have problems that were not considered in the Normandy format,” he said.

Zelensky noted that the return of 140 Ukrainian prisoners would not have taken place without his direct conversation with the president of the Russian Federation.

“This is the issue of the return of our sailors, the humanitarian difficulties for the Crimeans who are in captivity, many of them are behind bars. Such issues must be resolved with the President of Russia,” stressed the President of Ukraine.

Earlier, Zelensky said that when the need arises, he talks directly to Putin. According to him, this helps to find the necessary solutions, which are important not only for Ukraine, but for the whole of Europe.
