Encounter in Zelensky

The head of state demanded from the Ministry of Health reliable statistics on the sick and recovered, however, it turned out that the Ministry of Health does not know the exact number of those who overcame the disease.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a conference call on Monday, October 26, demanded that Health Minister Maxim Stepanov provide reliable statistics on the number of cases and recovered from the coronavirus. This was announced on Monday, October 26, by the Office of the President.

“At the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy harshly raised the question of the reliability of the statistics of the sick and those who recovered,” says the message.

In turn, Stepanov explained that he did not receive all the figures of those who overcome the disease, since many people transfer it to self-isolation.

He explained that the Ministry of Health made changes in the spring, according to which recovery is determined by clinical symptoms and a negative test for COVID-19 is not required.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that the government has ordered the heads of regional state administrations to provide oxygen to hospital beds by 80% in the near future.

According to him, the oxygen provision in hospitals in the Kherson region is 85%, in the Kirovograd, Transcarpathian, Khmelnytsky, Poltava, Zhytomyr and Vinnitsa regions – 50%. The day before, almost 5.5 thousand people fell ill in the country, while a little more than a thousand recovered.

He also added that 571 million hryvnias have already been earmarked for the purchase of oxygen for hospitals.

There are now more than 16,000 beds connected to oxygen (6,800 more than in September), Shmygal said.

The head of the Health Ministry, Stepanov, said that 14 more hospitals began admitting coronavirus patients.
