Zelensky awaits results of customs reform
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky commented on the appointment of former Georgia President Mikheil Saakashvili as chairman of the Executive Reform Committee. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Ukrinform.
So, during a briefing as part of a visit to the transcarpathian region, the Ukrainian president said he expected positive results from Saakashvili’s activities in the coming months.
“I do not expect results from Saakashvili’s work the second day after his appointment, but it should be in the coming months. The result is about deregulation in business and customs reform,” he said.
Zelensky emphasized that he wants the former head of the Odessa Regional State Administration to reform Ukrainian customs, because during the time of his president in Georgia, Saakashvili was able to create modern customs and overcome corruption.

Furthermore, Zelensky is interested in assisting the former President of Georgia in the implementation of pension reform in Ukraine.
Recall, on the afternoon of May 7, President Zelensky signed a decree appointing Saakashvili as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the reforms. Zelensky expressed the hope that Saakashvili can boost the National Council of reforms.
RBC-Ukraine also wrote that Saakashvili’s appointment was criticized in Georgia, where he was placed on the wanted list. On Friday, May 8, Georgia called its Ukrainian ambassador for consultations.
