Mayors sabotaging quarantine want voters to please – Zelensky

The president says this is how mayors want to please voters. He called on the local authorities to be a united team with the central leadership of the country.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that city mayors who oppose the strengthening of the quarantine seek to please voters before local elections. He told this to reporters in the Khmelnytsky region on Wednesday 9 September.

“All these rebels … I understand that before the local elections they want to please the people and open everything up, give the opportunity to walk without masks, close their eyes and not see that suddenly 200-250 children in their cities get sick in one day “- said Zelensky.

He warned that this attitude could lead to the lack of hospital beds. According to him, the state must protect people, despite some inconveniences for them, so Zelensky asked the local authorities to be a single team with the central leadership of the country.

Finally, the president offered to teach the rebellious mayors a lesson. Count the death toll from Covid-19 due to their riots and force mayors to personally go to the homes of the families of the dead and “look them in the eye.”

Let us remember that Chernivtsi will sue the Cabinet of Ministers for quarantine. The Chernivtsi City Council joins similar demands in Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk.

It was also reported that in Kostopol he protested against the inclusion of the city in the “red” zone. Protesters say there are entertainment facilities in the city, but schoolchildren are forced to study remotely.
