Zelensky wants to expand the powers of the president

The current form of executive power does not always ensure the effective functioning of the state, says the representative of the president before the Constitutional Court.

Fyodor Venislavsky, representative of President Volodymyr Zelensky on the Constitutional Court, believes that Ukraine should have a purely presidential form of government. He said it on Thursday, November 11, in an interview with Radio Liberty.

According to him, the separation of powers in the field of executive power “causes a dualism in management” between the president and the prime minister. Because of this, Venislavsky believes, the president should be the head of the executive branch.

“Mentally and historically,” according to him, Ukrainians supposedly “need a leader” and therefore “there must be a strong government and a strong president.”

Venislavsky said that he would recommend this idea for your consideration.

By the way, the fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, during his reign, said that he saw no reason to question the parliamentary-presidential form of government in Ukraine.

We will recall, Venislavsky also stated that Zelensky has the legal right to dissolve the CCU.
