Zelensky considers the decisions of the CCU “a great operation”
The president met with the head of the court, Tupitsky, even before the resounding decisions on NABU and NAPK were made.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Focus said that he had met with the head of the Constitutional Court, Oleksandr Tupitsky, even before the resounding decisions on NABU and NAPK were made and asked him not to violate a number of issues.
“I did not invite a single judge to my meeting, but they all wanted to talk to me. The president of the CC also wanted very much to meet me. He came to all the events and said that there are some unconstitutional things. I agreed with him. He said they are statesmen, they defend the Constitution. “Is there a general vision where there are threats?” asked Tupitsky. Because after the approval of the agrarian reform law, I said publicly that God does not allow the Constitutional Court to cancel this reform, ”says Zelensky.
According to him, he later told Tupitsky that he could not influence the Constitutional Court. “But if they ask me about the position of the State, I tell them: land, banking, language issues, I ask them not to violate so as not to divide society,” I said at that meeting. We shook hands, ”says the president.
Zelensky recalled that later the KSU questioned whether the president could appoint the director of the NABU, and then blocked part of the powers of the NAPK.
“Then they moved on to NAPK, after which I realized they urgently needed to be stopped. After NAPK we knew what would happen next: lands, languages, banks. I mean, this is all a big operation. Is it special or not? interested “- he explained.
Therefore, Zelensky believes that Tupitsky has exceeded his powers.
“Tupitsky cannot be the president of the Constitutional Court. The restart of the court should start with this. I don’t even threaten. Conflict with the state, conflict with society, conflict with BP, conflict with the president. It seems to me that this is enough for one person to leave. This is a normal man step “, – the president is convinced.
He added that the KSU is not yet independent, although according to the law it should be.
The day before it was learned that the Attorney General’s Office summoned the head of the KSU Tupitsky to present suspicions. It is expected on December 28.
Let us recall that the Venice Commission concluded that the KSU “cannot be” punished “for its decisions, but its work must be improved.”
