Zelensky wants to resolve the “constitutional crisis” faster

The president calls on European experts to consider the issue of anti-corruption legislation in Ukraine under an expedited procedure.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked the Venice Commission to assess Ukraine’s anti-corruption legislation following the Constitutional Court’s decision, the President’s Office reported Wednesday, November 25.

“The government of Ukraine is determined to solve it and restore the legislative mechanisms to prevent and combat corruption,” said the president.

It asks the Commission to rule on the CCU’s decision on liability for inaccurate declaration in the presence of a possible conflict of interest, as well as on the CCU’s compliance with the procedure to hear the case, in particular, on the validity of the decision and compliance with the limits of constitutional submission.

Zelensky asks Venetian to consider his request for an expedited procedure due to the need to find a balanced solution to overcome the constitutional crisis.

“We highly appreciate the expert assistance of the Venice Commission and look forward to continuing the close cooperation,” the president said in his letter.

We will remember, last week Zelensky already discussed the KSU issue with the head of the Venice Commission, Gianni Buquicchio.

Zelensky also discussed the Constitutional Court issue with the G7 and EU ambassadors. He noted that the main task of the Ukrainian authorities was to ensure the continued activity of the anti-corruption bodies and to restore the functioning of the electronic declaration system.
